[D6 Powers] Teen heroes

Post by Jake on Thu Aug 07, 2008 3:01 pm

this is just the bare bones concept I will put more about it here in the near future should anyone be interested. you play a bunch of high schoolers on a field trip to some native American ruins, or something. there is some kind of acciedent, or event. suddenly the kids get superpowers. now you are on the run from the govronment and other shady agencies, and trying to figure out your powers and stay alive, and sve the day. like I said it's a very bare bones idea right now I will be elaborating on it here shortly.

players will make characters without superpowers and then after the triggering event will occur and the powers are flying. when you make a character try to plan out it's skills and knowledges as if still in high school. then when you get the powers you can totally change, this should be a reflection of your characters strengths or internal wants.

So here is the history of the world in brief:

in world war two there were rumors of Nazi super soldiers and whatnot, however the first real superheroes began appearing in the early to mid seventies, starting with Hyperion and since then more and more super beings have been popping up. the year is now 2010 and you are all high school students in the small town of Winterfall, Idaho population 20,000. it's senior year and for the senior trip you are all going to go to an archeological dig site in the surrounding mountains.

I think we need to discuss the kind of supers game you would all(well relatively all) like to play. would you want to play a smallvilleesque game of teen heroes? or more along the lines of teen titans? I would like input on this as I will be able to push the game in a more entertaining direction.

yeah I was very influenced by those two movies when I was writing up the concept. so you are looking for a more super"hero" kind of feel? less smallville, more zoom?

I know if I had superpowers I wouldn't be a hero. Badguys always seemed to have more fun. Besides everyone needs a bad guy.

Here are some of the students of Winterfalls High-School:

Marcy Jones: Blond, blue-eyed, peppy, condescending, rich, head cheerleader. her father is the owner of Martin Jones Family Ford.

Tabitha Trueblood: Quiet mousy girl, makes little impact.

Carl Bindle: State wrestling champ, and the "friend" of Marcy, is a bully, likes to lord over the "freaks, and the losers!"

Chuck Tane: short, pudgy, always smiling and making bad jokes. the favorite target of Carl. he got his nick name due to his asthma.

That is what I have so far any ideas would be welcome.

edit: got rid of the stupid nicknames, they were bugging me.

There are a few Powers that I am going to restrict from play for various reasons:

Ka Manipulation(it is just too complex rules wise, so for now I would like to avoid it)
Empathy
Mind Control
Possession
Precognition
Dimensional shifting

Also I would like to avoid time travel, though other aspects of time manipulation are fine.

so when you are done with the characters, please post them in the character section. I would like to look at them and maybe ask a question or two, also we need to set up a time to play the first game. (or the first attempt any way) thanks much!! evil

I'm not familiar with the "D6" rules system... is it anything like GURPS?

This sounds interesting, something between Rising Stars and Gen13 (in its older incarnations anyway).

The D6 system is by west end games(actually I believe they just went under, and the system is up for grabs to the highest bidder, but that is neither here nor there). If you have ever played the West End Star Wars game then you have a good idea how the system works. the game setting, and main rule book for this game is Godsend Agenda. and the basic premise of the game is kind of a cross between Smallville, Ultimate Spiderman, Sky High, and Zoom. or at least that is the intent as of now. this could change after the first session. I never like Gen13 all that much, but if that is the direction it goes then that is the direction it goes.

jenn_aiel wrote:Is it too late to join this game?

no it is not, we are still working out all the bugs with running a game online so the game should start sometime next month. I am hoping in a few weeks, but we will see. right now only two players are signed up, and I am shooting for between four and five players. if you have your own game you would like to run by all means throw down an idea. we are somewhat informal here, and we are working through several issues that we had not anticipated. but yeah if you want to make a character by all means make one, and submit it, I can't guarantee anything, but it looks good. evil
