I will be running a new game, I need help deciding what setting to run

Post by Jake on Tue Jun 09, 2009 10:35 am

so I basically have three setting ideas in mind. I know that I will be running it with the ORE using Wild Talents. so here are the three settings vying for position. let me know what you think:

First, we have a game set in the 1930s, where you play masked heroes. there are no super powers, just gadgets and skills. think batman style games...but in the thirties. the criminals have started dressing in costumes to get away with their crimes, and they appear to be devoting a great deal of their ill gotten gains to developing new gadgets for the commission of said crimes. the law is powerless, only you can stop this tide of evil.

second, Super heroes in a magical land. you would play heroes from myth and legend. the great war between nations has just ended, and the heroes of that era are either dead, retired, or missing. you are the new heroes of the land. seeking to keep the peace and defend your king. but a dark force looms on the horizon, one that threatens all of the world. you and your allies are all that stand between peace and oblivion.

and third, is...mighty morphin power rangers. seriously...it would be fun...stop laughing at me, it would! OK well here's the pitch any way...mumble mumble mumble ingrates mumble...so some ancient evil has been released at last and some powerful person/force(who for some reason can't fight the evil him/itself) imbues you and your friends with power and giant robots, to combat the enemies forces(because for some reason the great Evil doesn't ever really come to earth it self, but it sends hordes of stupid rubber monsters). I am thinking of maybe getting rid of the giant robot as it would be hard to do, but the rest will be much like you remember it...sort of. I think I will make it more lethal too...hmmm.

so there you go, I plan on running this on Skype on Friday nights, so if anyone wants to play let me know, and if any one has an opinion on which one I should run let me know. I will go with the consensus I think. or which ever one I am in the mood for when I decide what I will run.

Edit: oh one last idea, I could just run my teen supers game again, this time using wild talents, maybe I could get more than three sessions out of it this time...just a thought.

Sounds cool... The rumor in the wind is that Melody is looking into Shadowrun for her first game to run...

I liked the first idea the best! It's bazarr tuards a lot of games i ever played. Usually super heros have powers but i think they should just have smart witted minds and butt kicking action. If you do decide to do the first one you should allow the player to also be the bad dudes and mabye get the bad dudes alliances and mabye have them fight each other even. (bad dudes vs bad dudes) So yeah, i LOVE the first idea.

good to know that you liked the first idea, I like it too, I have been working on the setting off and on(mostly off of late) for the last few months. I am currently far busier with my life than I had anticipated when I posted this, but we will see where it goes!!

also welcome to the forums, if you would like you can introduce your self in the introduction thread here
