Idea swap meet

Post by Kilbia on Fri Aug 29, 2008 7:51 am

I'm not entirely sure there's a proper forum for this, and perhaps it's not something LaughingStick wants to involve itself with, but...

...I, for one, keep having little bitty snippets of ideas, none of which mesh together very well. If I were to try and put all my ideas into one game, it'd be a jolting patchwork quilt. But I like the ideas and I'd like to see them get used, so with the administrators' blessing and guidance I'd be happy to dump some of my setting details and NPC backgrounds here. It'd be kind of like that book "GM Gems" except out of *my* head instead of theirs. (Fear! Laughing )

There certainly is a place for that here!
Story ideas are always welcome. If you have a game you want to run then post the synopsis here in Story ideas. If you have one you want to see run (even if you aren't surte you want to play it.) then it goes in the requests sections. Things posted there are available for any GM or storyteller to run with. Once the full story is fleshed out it is posted here so we can request players.
I know that there are plenty of times I want to run a game but have trouble coming up with ideas.

The only request is that you divide different story line ideas in different threads. That way NPC's and plot details are all easily accessed.

Great idea though! Welcome to the Stick!

Re: Idea swap meet

so here are some ideas I have had for games recently.

a game set in the renaissance, only an alien ship crashes in the middle of the Mediterranean sea. the Medicis manage to get a hold of most of the technology and use this new found tech for power and money. the players could work on the side of the Medicis, or against them. this would be a mixture of Flash Gordon, and the three musketeers.

during the early bronze age two major civilization existed on the Mediterranean, Greece/Crete and Persia. these two civilizations are ruled by noble families that carry in their blood power. they are super powered beings, claiming descent from the gods and demons. the players would play members of these houses.

This is my new campaign. the idea occurred to me when I heard one
line in “The Watchmen”. then I saw a documentary on the bank robbers of
the twenties and thirties.

I have always held that in
order for super heroes to exist, there needs to be super villains
first. so what if those flashy bank robbers of the twenties and
thirties started wearing flashy costumes? I know that they did use the
fastest cars, the newest guns, and amazing tactics to get away with
robberies. what if one of them hired an engineer to build him better
equipment? suddenly the other criminal gangs start hiring scientists
and engineers to build them gadgets and devices in order to continue
eluding the police. The FBI and the Police are at a loss, then rumors start floating around. rumors of Vigilantes in masks, with their own gimmicks.

Meanwhile
the Nazis are working on a super soldier program(this one bears fruit,
though none know it at the time), and the Japanese start working on
alternate power sources, as they realize they cannot depend on oil. in
China monks and Martial artists start appearing to uphold tradition and
justice. Then Germany invades Poland(or wherever it was they first
invaded…I think it was Poland…now I am not sure) and the Ubermensch are
on the front line and in the news. no one has ever seen what these men
can do. the war drags on longer than it did in the real world, America
still develops the A bomb and drops it on Japan, however Germany gets
the second bomb. unknown to the rest of the world the Germans were
working on there own atomic tests, when the American A bomb went off it
interacted strangely with the German experiments, destroying far more
land than in japan, far more than any estimate ever made. the war was
over, but the world was forever changed.

Supers start
appearing all over the place, never in large numbers, usually for no
discernible reason. In Africa the Jungle turns dark and mysterious,
people who go into the Congo do not return. in northern Russia, during
the winter, a great white bear, big as a house, is spotted roaming the
snow laden land. the world got a lot stranger, and little darker. most
people think it has to do with bombing of Germany( I am thinking of
Berlin being bombed, but have not decided yet), but no one knows how.

What's X-Crawl?

I've been working on a 3rd installment of the Wymyn/Damiana game this one takes place LONG after our last game and Damiana has a teenage daughter of her own. I'm looking for a whole bunch of people wanting to play old WoD. I'll probably hold the session on Talk Shoe so you have to be willing to play on speaker phone.

X-Crawl is a game of D&D set in a modern roman american empire. basically you dungeon crawl for cash and prizes. it's an interesting setting.

And super fun. I always tell new people, imagine if the roman empire never fell, Ronald Regan is the emperor and is kept alive by magic, and to keep the public happy they made the x-crawl games which was a popular game among the younger generations and became real after a group of them encountered a group of zombies that some how got into an underground parking garage and killed them.
