Girls of Gaming

Post by Carol on Tue Aug 11, 2009 12:15 am

Like a Star @ heavenI just would like to start a thread for the other female gamers out there, perhaps invite them out of the woodwork and out into the open. Are you a girl gamer and proud of the fact that you don't need a male gamer to fill in your character sheet? Can you roll with the best of them? Do you ever use being a girl to your advantage in a male dominated gaming group?
I'm just wondering if there are other gamers like me out there. I'm a girly gamer,(I'm a girl and I play feminine women)
Even if you aren't a girly girl gamer I still want to hear the perspectives of other female gamers. What drives you crazy in a gaming group? Do you resent or embrace the female gamer stereotypes?
This is Carol, reaching out
. Like a Star @ heaven

Actually, most of the gamers are mainly boys but there
are girls who can beat boys on games. There are girls who
are good in strategies and know how to play the game without
help. But honestly speaking, I'm not really a good gamer. I am
not really pushing through things when playing. I just enjoy playing
and juts that.

But that should be the bigger point to playing; did you have fun playing?

So what if you're not good. Couple weeks ago in a Warhammer 40,000 game I ended up walking over a kid who's rather new to the game (nearly wiped out his army). But he had fun and learned a whole lot from me in the process, which was the bigger deal of it all.

If you don't have fun playing a game, then maybe you shouldn't play that game at all.

I am a girl Gamer, Carol can back me up on this, but I play both male and female character. I have been gaming for a very long time and have learned that to be good you have to think you are. In tt games it's easier to play female pcs because the players see you as what gender you are, though I have had one or two male pcs that I have loved to death, as Jake can tell you, but most times its just eaiser to play female when everyone sees that you are.

Now with online gaming chats I play a combo of both and have on more then a few occasions confuised other players into thinking I am what gender I am playing. I had a couple of girls thinking I was a male player in real life to the point of them wanting to come and meet me. lol.

In the end it comes down to having fun in whatever gender you end up finding yourself in and I love it when you find other girl players to share that with.

You do play both genders very well MadHatter (I'll refrain from using your IRL name) as a matter of fact, one of the main characters in the City of Wymyn show is based off a character designed by you. (but you already knew that)

It's a good character, very solid in a group of near neurotic characters.
